The formula
Tons = (Length ft × Width ft × (Depth in ÷ 12) ÷ 27) × 1.4 tons/yd³
Example: A 30 ft × 12 ft patio base at 4 in deep = 4.44 yd³ ≈ 6.2 tons of stone.
